Final Week

I scraped my old idea entirely. The change of direction is less dark than my original idea. My first cut was about 5 minutes long and included a lot of cereal eating. I cut this down significantly. The final cut is more of a trailer than the full idea. It centers on a concert going experience.

Dark Shots Shot

I shot the basement shots. Some  are out of focus but that carries some emotional weight. I have some head-on shots from the angle of the window.

First cut of Final video "Scream"

This week I gathered all new footage shots  to surround the main part of my "Scream" project. I gathered several shots of greenery and wildlife. The audio includes both nature sounds and street sounds. As the camera gets further and further into the woods, the man made creation on the other side of the woods becomes clearer. A house with a cellar door  comes into focus. The next shots are missing for now. I envision an establishing shot in a basement, pan down to see a subject tied up and struggling to free them self.  It is painful to watch. Finally the figure turns to a window resigned to their position. Closing the Shot from urbanization to wilderness have a thematic reversal. We go from the remote cellar back to the street. Another variation of the title card is shown

Second week of videos.

This project was inspired by Ye by Kanye West. I was experiencing a depressive episode, the worst i have ever personally experienced and was exploring ways to bring myself out of it. I attempted several shows, movies, and albums. Late on that Sunday night/ Monday morning I started listening to Ye. Almost immediately the spark to create a visual version of the album came to me. I spent the next hour or so creating the mock ups and starting the process of planning the necessary shots. I then went to the equipment cage that week an checked out a DSLR camera, lenses, and tripod. I took several photos at my house, stagingas necessary and getting creative with the tools I had on hand. Some shots were taken in TCNJ classrooms sneaking into rooms and using them until interrupted by a meeting or class. My friend Joely is the female subject in these photos. Music besides Ye was also a key part of the creation process anywhere I was music drove me there.  Album found here     ...
